Mr. Keating, the great teacher!
There are many good teachers in the world. I have a memory about a good teacher like Keating. It is very important to meet a good teacher in childhood. I think so. John Keating teaches his Welton junior to make them live their own extraordinary life. His philosophy is based on ‘carpe diem’. - It means 'seize the day!' -  Robin Williams acts John Keating. His acting was very inspiring. Keating teach English to student as well as to find own paths in a strict society where your path has already been selected. He was a man truly love his students.

If you want to meet Mr. Keating, say “O Captain! My Captain!”. =)

Film vs Novel
In frankly speaking, the novel was boring. I recommend to see a movie first, before you read this book.

The Wizard of Oz (Paperback) - Puffin Classics  

L. Frank Baum (1856-1919) born in Chittenango, New York State

It’s a great joy to read a classic novel because there are beautiful stories. =) 'The Wizard of Oz' was written by L. Frank Baum in 1900. (Wow 106 years ago!) Baum also wrote another thirteen books about Oz. Oz is the wonderful land with magic and fantasy. There are Wizard, wicked Witch, Munchkins, wild beasts, winged monkeys, Winkies in the Oz. It is one of the best-known stories in American popular culture and has been widely translated. (also Korean)

I have a little memory about the TV animation 'The wizard of Oz' in my childhood. In my memory, characters of TV animation series are so cute and they show the good friendship. But I have no idea about the end of the story. I wonder what happened to Dorothy and her friends at the last. I could find full stories of 'Wizard of the Oz' in this book.

I recommend this book to everyone who want to bring back their memories about Dorothy and her friends. This book has wonderful stories with profusely illustrated. That's so goooooood!

Unresolved External...
It is a problem in a porting process of WebTide , a web application server which implemented J2EE specification, on HP-UX platform and it always print 'Unresolved External' on my terminal window in despite of my intensive effort. I'm really struggling with this issue with no clue of how to narrow down that whether the issue is in my environment, my build process or third-party's softwares...

I'm getting nervous. Because I must resolve this problem in limited time (3 days left).
I want to solve this problem!

I can do it. I believe ..

Dear Buddhist monk Tom.

Merry Christmas!
How about becoming a Santa Claus this Christmas?
If this real happens, people will be impressed by this harmonic and pluralistic event.

First of all, Christmas is a holy day and it stands for belief, hope, and love. It is a paradigm of beyond human race and over any ethos. Belief, hope and love are fundamental factors in human life. Difference in religious belief cannot hinder this great paradigm.

Second of all, people will welcome this harmonic event.
It means Buddhist Santa Claus will open up the minds of two difference religions believers. The barrier may disappear from this event.

However, some people don't think that way. Because each religion has its own belief system. How can this be ignored?
But a religion seems to be a great philosophy leads human life.
If you broaden perspective, there is no difference in fundamental spirits.

Therefore, I hope to see a Buddhist Santa Claus every Christmas. It will provide a chance to understand each religion and feel each religion’s generosity.

Here comes a Great Musician: The Real Group.

Do you know 'The Real Group'?  They come on this Wednesday and Thursday at Seoul Art Center. This is a cappella group lined up three men and two women. All of members are schoolmate of 'Sweden Royal Music Academy'. People love their very beautiful harmony and impressive voice. It is not much doubt about that they are winners of the 'Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards' frequently.

This group's major part is not only jazz and pop but also classic and world music. Moreover, they try singing beautiful Sweden folk songs on their new album 'Stamning'. It will be a great live concert in Seoul Art Center likewise last three concerts.On this concert, they will be singing following songs, 'Walking Down the Street, 'I Sing You Sing', 'Song from the snow'. I want to see it. May be I am going to purchase the ticket. How about you?

Be cautious!


My office desktop computer has been infected by computer viruses and crashed last Friday.Who would not be frustrated with such programs like this?

The first indication of the infection is its slowness.
Most users do not think of it as oriented infection.
However, the PCs will only get slower with more errors.I thought the same way, too.

I had never imagined that my PC would be infected by a virus, but it was only a helpless wish of mine.I really regret that I had not been running anti-virus programs.

After all, I decided to reinstall the entire programs again.
It is going to take up a lot of time; at a boring thing to do! There is a famous Danish proverb, “Advice after mischief is like medicine after death.”

I truly believe that now.

The great father of classical music, J.S Bach.


Do you know J.S Bach? I think that you know about him already.

Johan Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) was born in Deutschland in 1685. He had already showed splendd musical ability when he was young children. He was born into a musical family for many generations. It shows that his musical skill was not an accident.

However, his childhood vannot be described as being fortunate.He lost his parent when he was only 10 years old. It must be a traumatic experience.

From that time on he started cultivating his violin and organ skills in vicious circle of poverty. He was never frustrated and was able to overcome obstacles through his passion in music.

As a result, Bach could hand down a lot of masterpieces of classical music.
For instance, 'Brandenburg Concerto','Air (Aria on G string)','Goldberg Variations','Toccata in D minor',
'Rejouissance','The Art of The Fugue','St.Matthew Passion' and 'A Musical Offering' are a few of his best pieces.

He had also accomplished 'Polyphony' and 'Counterpoint'. (It is a composing theory.)
No doubt, J.S Bach was the great father of classical music.

My favorite Rock Musician - Queen

I like Queen.
This rock band is a world famous group.

This rock band has many hit songs.
“We will rock you”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “We are the champions”, “love of my life” and “Crazy little things called love” are the songs that everyone must have heard at least once in his or her life.

I think Queen was a frontier of rock music.
They are the ones that opened a new genre called ‘opera rock.’
It is rock music in opera form.

For instance, something like that speech, story, scene, musical variation.I think “Bohemian Rhapsody” is a good example of opera rock genre. Its lyric is also very impressive, and even Freddie Mercury’s vocal is magnificent.

I really love his voice. Heaven sent the voice.
Sadly, he died in 1993, and I miss him very much.

There will be CrazySwing’s 12th graduation party in Harry & Peter Swing Jazz Bar on this Saturday.

I am a beginner’s class helper and and taking part in the performance’s practice on this week.
Although I am really busy with the part these days, I am truly excited about it.


Tonight’s practice is at Du-rae Culture Center (room 405) of Seoul National University at seven.
Now I am getting ready to go to the practice.

Wow, it is so dark outside already!
It will probably rain this evening, so I am taking my umbrella.

WebTide handed on me 3 months ago, But..

Three months have passed since I took over the WebTide Building and Porting job.
WebTide is a type of Web Application Server (WAS), which is a middleware between
the web and the database environment.

My main job used to be Entera Development and Testing, But now I deal with both
Entera and WebTide

I tried building the WebTide 8.1 version on the HP-UX system, but I haven't completed the task yet.
Our company bought Nanum Technology Co.,Ltd., whose main product features groupware.

Nanum's groupware is a WAS-based system, so my company is trying to change the WAS that
uses Nanum's groupware.
I think I should complete my WebTide Building and Porting assignment.

I want to get rid of the problem that's causing a trouble on my assignment.

I really hope so

Awfully sleepy day...

I went to bed at 1 in the morning, and I woke up
at five in the mornig.

I took today's very first subway for swimming lesson at six.
Today's lesson was the leg movement of breast-stroke.

It was very difficult.
I had to buy some rolls to kill the hunger from the lesson.
As soon as I arrived to my office, I had a cup of coffee with the rolls I bought.

Then I joined Mr.Lee's English writing class at eight o'clock.
It was a good time. I think Mr.Lee is nice and cool guy.

Hmmm... It is 4:20 pm already.
I feel refreshed now, but I was terribly sleepy ten minutes ago.

Let's get back to work!

Arcade Games Strike Back on Your PC! (from The Ajou Globe Vol XIV No.67 September, 2002)

Many of you have fond memories in the Arcade Game Center. Now you can enjoy those arcade games on your PC using special software program called "Emulator". Emulator is a program that emulates different environments (or platforms). Then what is an ‘Arcade Machine”? An arcade machine is placed in a Game Center (or Amusement Center) to provide video games for commercial purposes.


On December 24, 1996, Nicola Salmoria began working on his single hardware emulators (such as Multi-Pac), which he later merged into one program in January 1997. He named his accomplishment the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, or MAME for short.

Since then MAME has been improved and at the time of writing MAME is in version 0.61. Now MAME supports most of the arcade machine games. So you can enjoy the arcade machine games at home on your PC! It is a wonderful thing to a video game maniac like me. We can look back to the good old childhood memories of games in which we could be heroes who saved the world. My favorites are “Final Fight”, “Gun Bird”, ”Samurai Show Down”, “King of Fighters”, “Street Fighter”, ”Bubble Bobble”, “Double Dragon”, “Snow Bros” , “R-Type”, “Jackal “, “The Punisher”, and so on.

We can also enjoy some of the newest games. For Instance “King of fighters 2001”, “Metal Slug 4”, “ESP RA.DE”, and so on. To execute these games, we need some data files. We called these files “ROM files”. ROM files contain the binary data of each game. These game data are extracted from the cartridges of arcade machines. There are many attempts to extract game data from arcade machines all over the world. We can easily find ROM files that we want.

The best place to find ROM files is naturally on Internet websites. Many websites have ROMs of arcade video games supported by MAME, and they allow you to search by year, manufacturer, genre, description, alphabet order and game name. If you like video games, visit the reference sites and make your very own arcade machine using your PC. Blow away your boredom with MAME.
